Kontrast Project is run by Kine Homelien. Her interest in development, sustainability and design led her to start Kontrast Project in the aftermath of the earthquake in Nepal, April 2015. As Kine had lived in Nepal, her network and Nepalese friends helped her in creating a small clothing production located in the hillside of Katmandu. Today Kontrast Project designs and sells clothing made out of the sustainable material hemp using natural dye.
Kontrast’s mission is to take an active role in sustainable livelihood creation while minimizing impact on the environment. Kontrast Project is deeply committed to using sustainable materials of finest quality. Its close relationship with local craftsmen and entrepreneurs in Nepal enable the brand to create a transparent supply chain.
The new collection ‘MOLTE’ photographed by Thea Løvstad explores contrasts between robustness and fragility in the heart of Norway’s Ble Mountains. Using hemp, natural dye and hand embroidery, KONTRAST materializes the impermanence and imperfection of nature.
